Sioux City Metros will now play home games in the newly constructed IBP Ice Center that opens in October of 1997. Sioux City home games were previously played at the Sioux City Auditorium. |
Omaha Jr. Lancers hosted the 1998 Varsity Year-End Tournament, March 6-8, at Tranquility Moylan Ice Plex. The banquet was held Saturday night at the Western Heritage Museum. This marks the first year that academic and hockey awards were presented at the Varsity tournament banquet. Guest speaker was Mike Kemp, University of Nebraska-Omaha head hockey coach. A fierce winter storm moved in Saturday evening of the event engulfing eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. Several teams were stranded in Omaha after the tournament ended, as travel was restricted on Interstate 29 and 80.
