High School Hockey Season Opens with Full Slate of Games PDF (Press Release) |
Jr. Varsity regular-season games will no longer end in a tie. If a game is tied at the end of regulation, teams will go to a three-player shootout, followed by a one-player, sudden-death shootout if needed. Both teams will be awarded one point in the standings, while the shootout-winning team will be awarded one additional point. |
New All-Star Selection Process: Coaches will now select First-Team and Second-Team All-Stars - regardless of division. Coaches will select the All-League team from a ballot containing names of First-Team All-Stars. |
After attending the Chicago/America's Showcase continuously since 1990, Team Midwest earned the #1 seed at the conclusion of pool play. The team was later eliminated in the championship quarterfinals. |
The Varsity year-end tournament will now run from Friday, March 3, to Sunday, March 5, while the Jr. Varsity tournament will share the same weekend beginning Thursday, March 2, to Saturday, March 4. First-round, quarterfinal games will now be single elimination. Division champions will no longer earn a tournament seed of first, second or third. Each division champion is guaranteed a spot in the tournament, but will be ranked among the top eight according to points earned during the regular season. |
